Tempo — Web Player Companion

Effective 18 October 2026. This policy describes the published extension’s current features, including local processing and any connected Tempo Web services.

What the companion handles

The player connects only to Tempo Web at tempo.hasbreo.com. It receives the current book’s title, author, series, cover, chapter, playback position, duration, speed and playback/sync status. It sends the playback controls you choose. It does not inspect the contents of the unrelated webpage you are browsing.

Sign-in stays with Tempo Web

The extension has no login form and does not copy Tempo Web’s password or login tokens into its extension storage. It uses a signed-in Tempo Web tab or embeds that same Web application in a background frame. That embedded Web application uses the same remembered Web login where Chrome permits shared storage. Tempo Web itself handles account identifiers and authentication information in its browser storage and communicates with your configured Audiobookshelf server. Session-only Web sign-in requires the visible connected Web tab to remain open.

Storage and retention

The companion stores a nonsecret book identifier, position, playing state and timestamp in browser-session storage. Live display data is held in memory. Earlier standalone-extension versions may retain legacy local library/progress data; the update removes their old active extension login tokens while preserving unsent progress. Uninstalling an extension removes that extension’s local data, but does not delete Tempo Web’s separate site storage or server records.

Network and sharing

Tempo Web handles authentication, covers, audio streaming and progress syncing with your selected server. Hosting, delivery and network providers may process IP addresses, requested URLs and browser headers to deliver and secure these services. The companion adds no advertising, analytics or unrelated telemetry. Playback information is shared only as needed for these features.

Your choices

Pause playback, sign out in Tempo Web, turn off remembered login, clear Tempo Web’s site data, or uninstall the companion. To remove server-side listening records or accounts, use your server’s controls or contact its administrator. Signing out does not erase existing server records.

Limited use

Hasbreo uses the data described here only to provide the extension’s stated features. Data is not sold, used for advertising, used to train general-purpose AI models, or transferred for unrelated purposes. Transfers are limited to providing the feature, security, legal obligations or a permitted business transfer. Human access is limited to consented support, security, legal requirements or appropriately aggregated internal information. Hasbreo’s use of information received through these extensions follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
