EXTENSION PRIVACY

Tempo Companion

Effective 18 October 2026. This policy covers the small player and the larger Book Finder included in Companion 1.1.

Player information and controls

The companion receives the current book’s title, author, series, cover, chapter, position, duration, speed and playback/sync status from Tempo Web. It sends the playback controls you choose. The player does not inspect the unrelated webpage you are browsing.

Book Finder information

Choosing Find in Tempo passes the text you deliberately selected as a search query. You can also type a title or author. Book Finder does not scan unrelated page contents or retain the source page’s URL. Book metadata, cover URLs, release descriptions, filters, search terms and your selected release are used for matching, interactive release comparison and a confirmed server request.

Existing Tempo Web sign-in

The extension connects only to tempo.hasbreo.com. It has no login form and does not copy Web passwords or login tokens into extension storage. It uses a signed-in Tempo Web tab or embeds the same Web application in one shared background frame. That embedded application can use remembered Web login where Chrome permits shared storage. Tempo Web itself handles account identifiers and authentication information in its own browser storage and communicates with your configured Audiobookshelf and ReadMeABook servers. Session-only sign-in requires the relevant connected Web tab to remain open.

Storage and retention

Browser-session storage retains a nonsecret playback continuation (book ID, position, playing state and timestamp), pending selected text, search queries, book/release display results and confirmation/request status. Live data is also held in memory. These values are replaced as you use the features or cleared when the browser session ends. After Finder use, an idle, nonplaying background connection can close after about ten minutes; player-only idle connections can close after about 30 seconds. Active audio and searches keep it alive. Reconnecting can reset live search results.

Earlier standalone versions may retain legacy local library/progress data. Updating the original player clears its old active extension login tokens while retaining unsent progress. Uninstalling clears that extension’s data but does not erase Tempo Web’s separate site storage or server records. A Store installation may have a different extension ID from an unpacked installation and may not inherit its local settings.

Network and necessary services

Tempo Web handles authentication, artwork, streaming and position sync with your configured Audiobookshelf server, plus searches and confirmed requests through your configured ReadMeABook server. That server may use its configured catalogues, indexers, download clients and library services. Book Finder sends a download request only after you select and confirm a release. Raw indexer download URLs stay inside Tempo Web’s integration instead of being copied into extension display state.

Book Finder may load HTTPS artwork from result-provided hosts without a referring page URL. Artwork, hosting, delivery and network providers may process IP addresses, requested URLs and browser headers to deliver and secure these services. The extension adds no advertising, analytics or unrelated telemetry. Google operates Chrome’s extension installation/update services.

Your choices

Pause playback, choose when to search, cancel a release selection, sign out in Tempo Web, disable remembered login, clear the Web site’s data or uninstall the extension. These actions don’t delete requests or listening records already stored by your servers. Use Tempo Web, server controls or the relevant administrator to manage those records. If sending a request is uncertain, check server downloads before retrying; download requests are not automatically retried.

Limited use

Hasbreo uses the data described here only to provide the extension’s stated features. Data is not sold, used for advertising, used to train general-purpose AI models, or transferred for unrelated purposes. Transfers are limited to providing the feature, security, legal obligations or a permitted business transfer.
