Hasbreo / Tempo
FROM FIRST VISIT TO FIRST CHAPTER

Let’s get you listening.

Start in your browser for the quickest setup. Add the phone or watch app whenever you want.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

You’ll need your own library login.

Ask Thomas for an Audiobookshelf username and password. Visiting Hasbreo or installing Tempo doesn’t create an account, and your ChatGPT or GitHub login won’t sign you in.

01

Copy the server address

This is Thomas’s Audiobookshelf server. Use the whole address, including https://, in Tempo’s server field.

https://abs.hasbreo.com

Use this address in Tempo Web, Phone and Watch. Your existing ABS username and password stay the same.

02

Choose how you want to listen

In your browser

  1. Open Tempo Web.
  2. Enter the server address above in ABS server URL.
  3. Choose Username & password, then enter the login Thomas gave you.
  4. Select Connect library. Your books should load.

The demo library is just a preview. Connect your ABS account for the real library.

On an Android phone

  1. Download the phone APK from Downloads.
  2. Open the downloaded file. If prompted, allow your browser or file manager to install apps from this source, then install Tempo. You can turn that permission off afterwards.
  3. Open Tempo, find the server connection settings, and enter the server address, username and password.
  4. Connect, then browse your library.
03

Pick a book. Press play.

Browse your library, search for a title, or explore authors and series. Open a book to start listening. The player includes play/pause, skip controls, chapter navigation and speed adjustment.

Continue Listening helps you return to a book you have already started. On the phone or watch, download a book before heading offline and check that the download is complete.

04

Keep your place between devices

Use the same ABS account everywhere. Pause and allow progress to sync before opening another device. Connect the next device before resuming so it can check your server position.

Pull ABS position means take the server’s saved position onto this device. Push means send this device’s position to the server. Compare the positions first if you have listened offline; pulling an older server position can move you backwards.

After offline listening, reconnect and leave Tempo open long enough to upload your progress before switching devices. Downloads are stored separately on each device.

WEAR OS SETUP

Install Tempo Watch from your phone

Use an Android phone and Wear Installer 2 to install or update the separate Watch APK. Our illustrated guide walks through the exact screens, the two different ports and keeping the watch awake during pairing. No computer needed.

NEED A HAND?

If something doesn’t connect

“Login failed” or an empty library ⌄

Check the full server URL and your ABS username and password. Try signing in directly at Audiobookshelf. If you can sign in but have no books, ask Thomas to check your account’s library access.

Web says the connection is blocked ⌄

Try the ABS server directly. If ABS works but Tempo Web does not, ask Thomas to check the server and proxy settings that allow Tempo Web to connect. This is a server setup issue; repeatedly reinstalling an app will not fix it.

The server won’t open at all ⌄

Check your internet connection, then try again. If it still fails on another connection, the home server may be offline. Let Thomas know.

I’m on an iPhone or don’t want to install anything ⌄

Use Tempo Web in your browser. No APK is required.

I want a book that isn’t in the library ⌄

Ask Thomas about adding it. The book requests page explains the request service and its current availability.
